Our Allocation Policy
The Housing Solutions Team will assess the housing need of all qualifying customers who wish to be rehoused; this includes new customers and existing council tenants. Within three days of receiving your application, we will send you a letter confirming that your application has been registered and let you know which band you have been placed into.
Once your housing need has been assessed, you will be placed into one of four bands:
Band 1 "Must find a home"
Band 2 "Must move soon"
Band 3 "Need to move"
Band 4 "Want to move"
Choice-Based Letting
We operate a Choice-Based Lettings scheme called Homeline; what does this mean?
Homeline is a letting scheme that lets you choose you would like to live. Homes that are available are advertised every week and you can look for your own home using the Homeline property website or property freesheet.
We advertise council homes and some homes owned by housing associations and private landlords. You can let know us know what homes you are interested in by bidding for them.
Homeline gives you a better idea of what homes are available in the areas you want to live in. We advertise feedback information on this website where you can find out how many people placed a bid on each home, what band they were in and how long they waited.
Who can use Homeline?
• Council tenants who want to move to another property
• Customers who have been accepted onto Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s Housing
