Number of homes let and average waiting times

Below are three tables that show the number of bungalows, flats and houses which were let from 01 October 2008 to 26 October 2009. The tables also show which bands successful customers were in and how long on average they waited for a home. If a property type is not listed it means that none of these homes became available to let.

Please refer to the average waiting times as a guide only. The average waiting times have been calculated from the shortest and longest waiting times for each property type. This means that some customers who were successful for a home will have waited longer or shorter than the average waiting times shown.

There will also be many customers currently on the housing register who have not yet been successful for a home who may have waited much longer than the average waiting times shown.

The total number of homes let from 01 October 2008 to 26 October 2009 was: 1,854

How long you may have to wait will depend on:
• which band you have been placed into, for example a customer in band 4 will usually wait longer for a home than a customer in band 1;
• how long you have been on the housing register, for example if two customers in band 2c bid for a home then the customer in band 2c who has waited the longest in that band will usually be offered the home first;
• how many homes of the type you need, and are eligible for, become available within your chosen areas;
• how limited your areas of choice are, for example if you are waiting for one area or street where very few homes become available; or
• how many bids you place, for example if you do not place any bids then you cannot be considered for any of the homes we advertise.

Bidding on issue 119 will begin on Tuesday 7 September 2010
